Author Guidelines

Submission, Initial Assessment, and Peer Review

SIKULA: Journal of Learning and Teaching Model Innovations uses a fully web-based submission and peer review system. Manuscripts must be prepared according to the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines and uploaded via the online submission system. Submissions not adhering to the guidelines, submitted in the wrong format, or unable to be reliably accessed may be returned to the authors without review.

Only original and independent work should be submitted. Each new submission is assessed by the editorial team to determine its relevance to the journal's scope. Manuscripts may be rejected without external review for the following reasons:

  • Lack of clear educational relevance

  • Focus primarily on methods without meaningful application in education

  • Major flaws in study design, methodology, or data quality

  • Exceeding word limits or formatting issues

  • Poorly written or unclear presentation

Submissions passing initial screening are assigned to an Associate Editor with subject expertise to manage the double-blind peer review process. Authors can typically expect a decision or update within one month. Revisions should be submitted within 2 weeks of receiving a revision request.

Types of Editorial Decisions:

  • Decline – Manuscript is unsuitable for publication and resubmission is not invited.

  • Resubmit – Major revisions are needed; authors may resubmit as a new submission.

  • Revision – Revisions required before final decision; a detailed response to reviewers must be included.

  • Accept – Manuscript is accepted for publication with possible minor edits.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors are permitted to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist in the preparation of their manuscripts, only under the following conditions:

Acceptable Uses

  • Using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL) for language enhancement, grammar correction, or structuring ideas

  • Using AI-generated code/scripts for data analysis, provided it is fully reviewed and validated by the author(s)

Unacceptable Uses

  • Generating major sections of the manuscript (e.g., abstract, literature review, results, or discussion) using AI without full human authorship involvement

  • Using AI to fabricate or falsify data, references, or citations

  • Using AI to rewrite/paraphrase existing works to bypass plagiarism detection

Disclosure Requirement

If AI tools were used, authors must disclose this in the Acknowledgment section or a dedicated statement at the end of the manuscript. The disclosure must include:

  • Name of the AI tool

  • The purpose of its use

  • A statement confirming the authors’ full responsibility for the content

Example Disclosure:

"This manuscript involved the use of ChatGPT (OpenAI) for grammar editing and outlining. The final content has been thoroughly reviewed and approved by the authors, who take full responsibility for the manuscript."

Failure to disclose the use of AI tools appropriately may be considered a violation of ethical standards and may result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
