Author Guidelines

Article Types

JROH accepts the following manuscript types:

  • Original Research Articles: Empirical studies exploring spiritual psychology, self-purification (tazkiyat al-nafs), Sufi teachings, emotional well-being, etc.

  • Conceptual Papers: Theoretical or critical discussions on spiritual–psychological topics.

  • Literature Reviews: Comprehensive syntheses of existing literature with critical perspectives.

  • Case Studies: Contextual analyses of spiritual practices in contemporary settings (e.g., digital age, Gen Z).

Language & Submission Format

  • Manuscripts must be in American English.

  • Submit in .doc or .docx (Microsoft Word).

  • The file should include all elements (text, tables, figures).

  • No submission fees; APC applies only upon acceptance.

Title Page

Contains:

  • Title (concise, informative).

  • Full names of all authors, with affiliations.

  • Corresponding author’s contact: email, full address.

Abstract & Keywords

  • Provide an unstructured abstract (max 250 words).

  • Include 3–6 keywords below the abstract.

Main Text Structure

Organize articles as follows:

  1. Introduction

  2. Methods (if empirical)

  3. Results

  4. Discussion

  5. Conclusion

  6. Acknowledgments

  7. Conflict of Interest Statement

  8. References

  • Use APA style (or consistent, international format).

  • Cite in-text author–year or numbered format, consistently.

Tables & Figures

  • Place tables and figures within the manuscript in appropriate positions.

  • Each should have a clear caption.

  • Ensure readability in monochrome and proper formatting.

Ethical Statement

Include, if relevant:

  • Ethical clearance and informed consent for human or animal studies.

  • Declaration of potential conflicts of interest.

  • Funding sources acknowledgment.

Submission Process

  1. Register on the OJS platform.

  2. Submit your manuscript via the online submission system.

  3. Include a cover letter stating originality and that the work is not under consideration elsewhere.

  4. Upload manuscript and supplementary materials if necessary (e.g., high-res figures).

Revision & Acceptance

  • Manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.

  • Revisions should address all reviewer comments and be accompanied by a response letter.

  • APC will be invoiced upon acceptance.

Post-Publication Permissions

  • Authors retain copyright.

  • Articles are published under CC BY 4.0 — free to share, adapt, with proper attribution.
